Angela. Placement Monitoring OfficerAngela is a placement monitoring officer. The Partnership has no residential units of its own, so when users need residential support they are placed with the most suitable care providers - sometimes some distance away. Angela visits each of these residential centres twice yearly to monitor the progress of users and check the quality of support being provided. The job involves constant travel around the UK. "I’m there as an advocate for users, to see how they are and make sure the support and care they’re getting matches the agreement we made with the unit at the start of the placement. I’m working more on my own than many other social workers, but I can call my manager at any time to talk through problems and share concerns. I came into social care originally working part-time to earn some money while studying for accountancy qualifications. I got my qualifications, but decided by then that social work looked a more interesting career." |
